Elara Crafts Jewellery Care Instructions
Thank you for choosing a handcrafted piece from Elara Crafts. To ensure your jewellery stays as beautiful as the day you received it, please follow these care instructions:
1. General Care:
Store Separately: Store your jewellery in a dry place, preferably in the pouch provided or a soft-lined box. Keeping pieces separate helps prevent scratches and tarnishing.
Avoid Moisture: Moisture can cause tarnishing, especially for sterling silver. Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or engaging in activities that may cause sweating. Avoid exposure to lotions, perfumes, and hairspray, which can dull stones and metal.
Put Jewellery on Last: Make jewellery the last thing you put on when getting dressed and the first thing you take off. This helps prevent exposure to chemicals from makeup, hairspray, or perfume. It also helps to stop damage from getting caught in clothing and snagging clothing fabrics.
2. Sterling Silver Care:
Polishing: Sterling silver can develop a natural patina over time. To maintain its shine, gently polish your piece with a silver polishing cloth. Avoid using tissue or paper towels, as they can scratch the surface.
Tarnish Prevention: Store sterling silver in an airtight bag when not in use to prevent tarnishing. To help keep it looking bright, you can also place an anti-tarnish strip in the bag or your jewellery box. All our sterling silver jewellery is supplied with an anti-tarnish strip, which should be replaced every 5-6 months.
3. Caring for Semi-Precious Stones:
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Semi-precious stones are sensitive to chemicals found in cleaning products, perfumes, and even some cosmetics. Remove your jewellery before applying such products.
Cleaning Stones: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a mild soap and water solution to clean the stones. Gently pat dry with a soft cloth—never soak stones for extended periods, as this can damage the setting.
Protect from Impact: While durable, stones like amethyst, garnet, and turquoise can chip or crack if dropped. Handle your jewellery carefully and avoid wearing it during activities that may cause impact.
4. Adjustable Rings:
Gentle Adjustments: If you need to adjust the size of a ring, do so gently. Avoid frequent bending, as repeated adjustments can weaken the metal over time. Visit a professional jeweller for a more secure fit.
5. Routine Maintenance:
Check Settings: Periodically inspect your jewellery to ensure the stones are secure in their settings. If you notice any looseness, have it checked by a professional jeweller.
Professional Cleaning: Consult a professional jeweller for deep cleaning or if your piece needs repairs. This is especially important for intricate designs or delicate stones.
By following these care tips, your Elara Crafts jewellery will continue to bring joy and elegance to your collection for years. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
